Dear Friends,
This will be my 2nd year riding the Pan-Mass Challenge on August 3rd & 4th. I have committed to ride from Wellesley to Bourne (84 miles) on Saturday followed by Bourne to Provincetown (77 miles) on Sunday. I have been training hard in honor of my father's patients and their families to prepare for this difficult ride across the state. The past few months have been difficult for me and my family due to injuries. I tore my ACL while playing ice hockey in November 2023 and subsequently had reconstruction surgery, and my father had spinal surgery in March of this year. Despite these setbacks we have resumed training hard throughout the summer and remain commited to our fundraising goals. Our 'inconveniences' are nothing compared to the hardships that cancer patiets fight to overcome.
The PMC is the largest fundraiser for the Jimmy Fund, a non-profit organization that supports cancer research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. I ride with the team “FLAMES” in support of the PMC and its drive to beat cancer. 100% of rider-raised revenue goes directly to support the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
I realize that times are challenging, but philanthropy is still the best way to continue supporting the research and discovery efforts in the Division of Leukemia. I ride the PMC to support my father's mission of finding new treatments and cures to cancer, specifically leukemias, myelodysplastic syndromes and myeloproliferative neoplasms. These past few years have been difficult for all of us and the funds from the PMC remain the single most important support for leukemia clinical research. I ride for all cancer patients, past and present, as well as their families. I ride to make a difference, and you can too.
I am asking my friends and family members for their assistance in helping raise my target personal goal of $6000 to be donated to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Thank you for your consideration. Please send your donation by September 30th.
With Warm Regards,
Robbie
