This will be my 18th year riding in the PMC on August 2nd and 3rd, I will be riding from Wellesley to Provincetown, 162 miles as member of our longstanding team, Make way for Molly. Our team, led by our captain, Ed Callahan, has raised over 1.25 million for cancer research. The PMC has raised 1 billion for this critical cause.
My 29 year old cousin Molly Callahan, kicked cancer's butt a second time after being in remission for 13 years and then getting a successful bone marrow transplant from her brother, Brendan. She is back to work, giving back as a pediatric oncology nurse providing care to Children with Cancer.
I continue to remember and ride for several other people: Toshie Mancuso, John Hayden, Ron Esposito, Dick Barlow, and Bob Polk all who lost difficult battles with cancer. It is sad to say but I don't know anyone who hasn't been touched by cancer in their family. I will also be riding for High School friend and fellow cyclist, John Lambert, who is undergoing treatment for Pancreatic cancer; as well as a few firends and co-workers who are currently undergoing treatment for various other types of life threatening cancer.
The need to continue to raise funds for cancer research and care at Dana Farber remains critically important. Cancer never seems to let up and neither can we in our drive to find a cure and improve life saving treatments.
