This year, I will be riding 192 miles over 2 days in the Pan Mass Challenge to raise money for cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Last year the Pan-Mass Challenge raised $47 million and 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
While the PMC has been an extremely worthy cause for the past 37 years, this year is particularly relevant for me. In November 2016, my good friend, Brad Obuchowski, was diagnosed with Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH), a rare blood disorder.
When I say rare, I mean PNH affects about 1 person out of every million. While Brad is currently taking $500,000 of annual treatements at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, he will eventually get a bone marrow transplant - at none other than Dana-Farber, which is where 100% of every dollar we raise will go.
I will be riding on a team (The Big Brad Wolfpack) with Brad and 3 others (one of whom is a cancer survivor). To thank us for this, Brad picked the most difficult route of the PMC, 192 miles of hills and valleys with over 4,000 feet of total ascent. Shockingly enough, I am not in peak physical condition, so I have quite a bit of training to do between now and then. However, I couldn't be doing this for a better cause or friend (despite his affiliation with tOSU).
Every dollar helps, so please consider donating anything you can. All donations are tax deductible, and know every dollar is being put to good use. Thanks for all of your support!
