Another year...three more dear ones lost their valiant battles to cancer. Rob Stein, Valerie Schwartz and Michelle Hausperg. Every day I remember them and how full of life they were and the incredible contributions they made to enrich our lives. Same for way too many over the years. Dave Hausperg, Gerry Cameron, Donna Wolfson, and the list sadly goes on and on...
And then there are the many survivors and those in the heart of their battles now like Harvey Muskat and Nancy Bard. With each year there are remarkable breeaktrhoughs in screening and diagnostic tools, along with new drug disciveries and treatment paradigms that offer us all great hope. But it's not sustaiunable without our support and we must seize every opportunity to advance the science. That's where the PMC and its support of the Dan Farber Cancer Institute and YOU come in.
Every donation brings us closer by the mile. Whatever you can do lifts me up and powers me through what will be a hot and painful 100 miles. Mine will be minimal and for but a single day. And yet, it's the best thing I can do to create a cancer free world one day for the generations to follow.
Fondly,
Pete Slone
