33 YEARS!!!!

Embarking on my 33rd year of unwavering commitment to the Pan Mass Challenge feels like more than just a ride; it's a journey etched into the fabric of my very existence. As the wheels of my bike turn once again this spring, I find myself reflecting on the passage of time, wondering where the years have gone and marveling at the enduring dedication to the fight against cancer.
For over three decades, the PMC has been more than a mere physical challenge; it has become a profound emotional, spiritual, and mental odyssey. In the face of personal loss to cancer, the PMC serves as a lifeline, aiding in the survival of the grieving process. It ignites a spiritual flame, offering a reason to hope, to laugh, and to renew faith in the inherent goodness that the world has to offer. Moreover, it poses a mental challenge, demanding unwavering focus on the task at hand, urging us to persevere despite obstacles and setbacks.
The profound impact of cancer, as witnessed through my personal loss of my mother in 1989 and sadly numerous other dear friends, family and colleagues, has fueled my determination. Instead of succumbing to helplessness, the PMC presents an opportunity to fight back, to commemorate the lives of those we've lost, and to celebrate the resilience of survivors. For over 25 years, I've had the honor of riding alongside Team Perini, contributing to the exceptional work conducted at the David Perini Jr Quality of Life Clinic at Dana Farber.
In our collective pursuit, we find ourselves on the brink of a cure. Yet, akin to a devoted Red Sox fan in the bottom of the 9th, a Celtic fan watching the set up for that final basket to win the game, or an ardent Pats fan facing 4th and goal with little time on the clock, we must maintain vigilance and unwavering focus on the ultimate goal: winning the game and discovering a cure.
We stand on the cusp of triumph, propelled forward by institutions like Dana Farber and the Jimmy Fund, and by individuals like you who champion this noble effort alongside me for so many year. As we gear up for the 2024 Pan Mass Challenge, the anticipation, commitment, and power of 33 years resonate louder than ever, echoing our collective resolve to conquer cancer and break the billion-dollar fundraising barrier.
Join us in this extraordinary journey!!!! Where every pedal stroke brings us closer to a world without the shadow of cancer. Together, we ride towards victory, towards a future free from the clutches of this relentless adversary.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
