The upcoming 2024 Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) is going to be an extra special event and I am asking for your continued support. It will be my 20th year of participating in the charity bike ride and the PMC is going to cross the amazing $1 billion in total fundraising for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute since 1980.
It is hard to believe it has been 20 years since my father-in-law, Dale W Alspaugh, passed away from lung cancer and I sought a way to honor his legacy and his battle with the disease. Since then, both my father and mother-in-law had and survived cancer. A staggering one in three people develops cancer at some point in their lifetime.
This year Barbara’s former coworker and very good friend, Karen, has been diagnosed with pre-leukemia (myelodysplastic syndromes) and is preparing to receive treatment. She is already a two-time cancer survivor and will be receiving a stem cell transplant in August - followed by 100-days of isolation (initially in the hospital and then at home). All of her prior and current treatment has been at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She is very much in our thoughts.
The PMC is a model of fundraising efficiency, with 100% of every rider-raised dollar going directly to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dana-Farber has been recognized as one of the top three cancer centers in the world and the #1 pediatric cancer program in the US.
I am excited to again be riding the original 2 day, 186 mile Sturbridge to Provincetown route, along with a Stockbridge/state line to Sturbridge ride the day before - for a full “Pan-Massachusetts” experience.
You can make an online donation via the Donate to My Ride button above (or Venmo or a DAF fund).
If you prefer to donate by check, please make the check payable to “PMC” and mail it to me at:

Any donation you can make will be very much appreciated.
Many thanks,
