Why I Ride ...Michael
I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. In fact, last year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure. My brother Michael was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a blood disorder, 4 years ago as he and his wife were in the process of adopting their daughter Madelyn. In 2013 Michael had a stem cell transplant in NC at Duke medical center. I spent a week with him as he was quarantined during his treatment. It's difficult to express the pain you feel for others as they struggle to recover and survive. Michael's cancer has been in remission however this will never go away as there is no cure. He will ways live with the worry of this coming back and shortening his life with his family. I am riding specifically with the Patriot Platelet Pedalers at this year's event. The PPP raises money specifically for Multiple Myeloma and was formed by doctors associated with the NE Patriots who treated former Patriot Ron Burton as he struggled with and ultimately lost his battle to Multiple Myeloma. I appreciate you taking the time to read this and hope you can find a way to support my ride to find a cure for all cancers that affect so many of our loved ones. Pete
