For the 13th year in a row, I'll be spending the first weekend in August riding my bike 162 miles to raise money for cancer research. I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading the charge to beat cancer and 100% of rider-raised revenue goes directly to support the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
The progress made every year as a result of the PMC inspires me to keep going. Dana-Farber researchers drove the development of over HALF of all cancer drugs approved by the FDA in the past 5 years. Cancer is relentless but so are all those involved in fighting it - whether developing new treatments, searching for cures, or just raising money to support this groundbreaking research.
Research dollars matter - now more than ever! The recent loss of Federal funding to the NIH and research centers across the country threatens to stall progress towards more effective treatments for this devastating disease. Dollars are needed to continue support for basic research, clinical trials, and access to treatment. .
I am riding for Becky Robertson, Mike Shuttenberg, Doug Stern, and James Senicola whose lives were cut way too short by cancer. The world was a better place with them in it and they remain cherished and loved. And I'm riding for the people you cherish and love who were taken by cancer.
I am riding to support those who are in the heat of battle against cancer and those who are supporting them in this fight.
I am riding to celebrate those who are living proof of the impact of research dollars that support cancer research.
My goal is to raise $6000. Please consider donating to this important cause - every dollar matters and every cent you donate will go towards moving us closer to a cure. Let's kick some cancer butt!!
