On August 5-6, I will join more than 5,000 cyclists in the Pan-Mass Challenge to raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston; 100% of all rider raised funds go to the DFCI. The PMC holds the promise of helping those facing a diagnosis of cancer.
I have joined Team Five & Dime for this incredible ride. As a team we are part of the Pedal Partner Program where we are teamed with a pediatric oncology patient who we ride in honor of. Individually cancer has affected each of our lives and we each have our own story, here's mine:
David was diagnosed with cancer in February of 2013. He met his diagnosis and life with cancer with his faith in God and a strong spirit. He gave it his very best and was grateful to have the support of family and friends and access to some of the best medical care in the world. He entered eternal life on December 10, 2015. The Pan-Mass Challenge is a way for me to honor David and everyone whose life has been touched by cancer. It is a way to take the loss of a lifetime and turn it into something good. Please help me help others.
I will be riding the 2-day 165-mile route from Wellesley to Provincetown in memory of David. To take part in this event I need to raise a minimum of $4,800 and am asking for your help in achieving this goal. Donations are tax deductible.
If writing a check is more convenient, please make it out to the PMC, The Jimmy Fund or Dana Farber Cancer Institute and mail it to me: Patricia A. Cabral, 329 Moosehill Road, East Walpole, MA 02032. I have until October 1 to complete my fundraising efforts.
If your employer has a matching gift program, get the form from HR, and follow the process for matches.
Any contribution you can make toward my ride would be most appreciated. No contribution is too small.
The people we love the most can help us lean on their courage and stand up again. Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, “I will try again tomorrow”.
Love is stronger than fear
Godspeed David
