Dear Friends:
I hope all is well with you and your family during this summer 2025, as well as staying dry at least! As many of you know, last year was a rough PMC for me as I was involved in a bike crash at mile 55 and broke my right hip and needed a new hip replacement (I am in favor of new body parts when you can:)) So after an off season of PT and training, I am excited to be riding back on PMC this year, my 11th PMC. PMC crested over the $1B total fund raising mark last year, a huge accomplishment by all involved over the last 45 years and we are fired up to continue to commit and raise more funds.
I say this most years, but firmly believe that I am very fortunate to be in a position to be able to ride in this event and give it everything I have (hopefully while staying upright on my bike) to raise funds for all those impacted by cancer. We all have family, friends and loved ones (including my beautiful wife, Janice) impacted by cancer and it will require a complete team approach to beat cancer.
August 2/3 weekend I will continue my summer tradition of participating in the Pan-Mass Challenge. I am fortunate to be part of a great and growing team known as Team PRECISION for Kids (Team PFK)! Every 100% $$ raised by our team will go directly to Dr. Katie Janeway and her amazing team and work in research and creating therapies based on a patients genome/DNA make-up. She is a world renowned doctor and researcher and she has been able to receive PMC funding for her groundbreaking work done at Children's Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
To give you a tangible example of where our team funds will go, it costs roughly $5,000 per patient to test the DNA of a childhood tumor so they can effectively target medicine to treat and cure with PRECISION!! Our team has raise more than $1.5 MM for this great casue and continue to hope for more donations.
On behalf of my family and our team, we thank you for your support!
