It’s that time of the year again, folks!!! For my 3rd year in a row, I’m riding in the Pan-Mass Challenge and asking for your support. This annual bike ride will look a little different for me this year, as I’ve decided to ride for not ONE but TWO days in support of the fight against cancer. This venture - which will span ~170 miles from Wellesley to Provincetown, Massachusetts - raises money for Dana Farber's cancer research and is set for August 5-6. Here’s to hoping the temperatures don’t rival last year’s 104 degrees!
I’m proud, yet again, to ride as part of a team called the “Peregrine Pedalers,” a group started by my brother’s mother-in-law, Eleanor “Missy” Robinson, who passed away early last year after a 5-year battle with cancer. Through the efforts of Dana Farber, Eleanor’s life was extended to see the marriage of her eldest daughter, Sewell, and the birth of her first granddaughter, Ebbie. See adorable smiles above! It is an honor to ride with and for this group. I have never met a woman with more drive, optimism, determination and energy than Eleanor - she played on the men’s lacrosse team at the University of Washington and was one of the first women to climb all 46 of the 4,000 peaks in the Adirondacks! She fought cancer with that same drive, positive attitude, and conviction. Needless to say that if she were still with us, she’d be the first one on the starting line of the PMC.
If you are able, I would be honored to receive a donation of any size to support my 2023 PMC ride (https://profile.pmc.org/PB0296) in our collective effort to find a cure for cancer, led by Dana Farber.
Like the last two years, I will also ride in memory of uncle (TP), grandfather (Gus) and great aunts & uncles who also succumbed to this terrible disease way too early in life!! Early photos below of my grandfather and uncles.
Through our fundraising and advocacy work for the PMC, the Robinson family has formed deep connections with Dr. Pasi Janne and his incredible team at the Dana Farber thoracic oncology department who took Eleanor in as a patient. All the funds raised by the Peregrine Pedalers will go directly to Dr. Janne's Non-Small Cell Cancer Research Lab (http://jannelab.org/).
Over the past four years, because of support from folks like you, the “Pedalers” have raised over $250,000 for Dr. Janne's lab. Last year alone, we raised $95,000…$25,000 over the goal for the year!! For all who helped us hit this amazing milestone, I’d like that say THANK YOU again for all of your support.
This year, I've committed to raise $4,000 myself. Please consider helping me reach my 2023 goal and visit my fundraising page at https://profile.pmc.org/PB0296. Thank you in advance for your generosity, love, support and donation.
