Why I Ride ...
I am riding 186 miles from Sturbridge to Provincetown this summer in my 5th PMC as a proud member of the Patriots Platelet Pedalers. Our team raises vital research dollars for Dr. Ken Anderson, the Kraft Family Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Last year, we raised $1.5 million and total team fundraising over the last 15 years is an impressive $16.7 million. 100% of the money we raise supports Dr. Anderson’s research and development of therapies to treat Multiple Myeloma, a blood cancer that my wife Kellie has been receiving treatment for with tremendous courage since 2016. Kellie continues to be a direct beneficiary of the incredible fundraising success of this dedicated team, and she has responded really well to the immunotherapy treatment she received in May. We are both so grateful for the critical donor support, the remarkable research and her unbelievably committed team of medical professionals. I am also riding to honor my Mom, Betsy, who is a “living proof” breast cancer survivor, and in memory of Susan Cooper, Kellie's sister and inspirational partner on their cancer journeys. Thank you for supporting my ride, and this amazing team and research effort.
