Dear Friends and Family,
Unfortunately, I am sure that many, if not all, of your lives have been affected and touched one way or another by cancer. Whether it was you personally who battled the disease, a family member, friend or co-worker, this awful disease has touched the majority of us in some way. This is true for me and my family when Donald Vigliotti, my father, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, liposarcoma, and passed away in August 2018, only one year after his diagnosis. For anyone who knew Don, like so many others, he would be the last person you would expect to get this life cut short from this terrible disease. A man who religiously watched what foods he ate and while still in his 60s, has the muscle tone and stamina of someone less than half his age. He was easily in better shape than I am, but that’s not saying much. As Don went through his treacherous journey I saw what true strength and bravery was from both my father and my mother.
5 years ago I joined the Wilson Farm team to ride in the Pan-Mass Challenge (“PMC”), but never got the chance to ride 192 mile over two days. The weekend we were supposed to ride was the weekend my father lost his battle with cancer. I haven’t touched the bike since, but Wilson Farm and the rest of the PMC riders continued to raise money for this fight against cancer. I wanted to full experience of a PMC ride, so on August 5th and 6th, now 5 years later, I will set off to complete the ride I trained for 5 years ago.
To take part in this incredible event I am asking for your help in achieving this goal. I am lucky to be a part of such a supportive team at Wilson Farm. Since 2010, Wilson Farm has raised over $815,000 for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The team is riding in their 7th challenge with a goal of $200,000 to bring our total contribution to over $1,000,000.
This will not be an easy feat and we cannot do it without your support!
Any contribution you can make towards my ride would be gratefully appreciated. The PMC is a way for me to honor my father as well as to potentially provide relief to another family who is going through the fight of their lives. Don was easily one of the most generous and caring people I know, so please help me pay that generosity forward and support my ride this summer.
If you have any questions or need any more information, please let me know.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Time to pump up the tires on my bike that have been sitting in my garage for 5 years.
