This year, I ride for my friend's three-year-old daughter, Eloise, who went to the hospital this spring with lingering flu symptoms and left ten days and a craniotomy later as a brain cancer survivor.
Eloise's story exemplifies the incredible scientific achievements humans can and should be proud of, achievements that we should never take for granted. Nor should we be complacent. Why be content with surviving when eradicating cancer is on the table?
