Hello Family and Friends,
Why I Ride …by Maxwell Tulimieri
My name is Maxwell Tulimieri. I started riding with my Grandfather - Dennis Tulimieri, Sr to pedal for Lindsey and the DFCI. Lindsey has become more than a pedal partner, she is a friend, it’s like having another cousin. On May 3rd 2011, things got crazy at our house. We received the results of what we had thought was a routine MRI, I have a brain tumor. That is the shocking news - here is the good news, I have no limitations or restrictions on my activities.
My current treatment is simply to be monitored and occasionally tested by the good doctors at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Dana-Farber, and I live my life with no restrictions. I am lucky, but not everyone is as lucky as I am, and that is why I continue to work with the PCM to help find a cure. In the meantime, I have attempted to help in other ways such as working for the Brigham and Women's Department of Neurosurgery for the past 2 years. On top of that, I am fortunate enough to be attending medical school this fall, and hope that my work as a future physician can lead to futher treatments and innovations.
There is no doubt, it is different riding in the PMC now, not only because of my personal expereice, but due to the virtual nature of the event this year. I look forward with faith and hope to a very bright future. Thank you for donating and helping the doctors and patients of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and for helping me in both my fundraising and my care.
