Hello everyone!
For the first time this year, I am beyond excited to ride in the Pan-Mass Challenge to raise money for Dana Farber Cancer Research on August 2nd. I’ll be riding from Wellesley to Bourne, about 85 miles, and will be joining thousands of others in an effort to raise as much money as we can to find a cure for cancer once and for all. The fight against cancer is a true team effort, and I am honored this year to be a part of a team called the “Peregrine Pedalers.” The Peregrine Pedalers was started by the mother-in-law of one of my best friend’s brothers (Sam Bourneuf) who passed away three years ago after her 5 year battle with cancer. Eleanor “Missy” Robinson saw her life extended through the efforts of Dana Farber. Through her determination, energy, optimism, and the help of Dana Farber, she was able to witness her eldest daughter get married and meet her first granddaughter, Ebbie. While I never was able to meet Eleanor, I have been inspired by her fight, as well as the battle that so many loved ones in my life have and continue to wage against cancer. It goes without saying that this terrible disease touches all of our lives, and I am honored to do a small part to try and further cancer research.
I am writing to ask for your support of any amount, big or small, as I ride from Wellesley to Bourne on August 2nd. My 2025 PMC profile can be found here: (https://profile.pmc.org/MS0978) and you can click to donate any amount you are able to within that link. In the event the link leads to an error, my rider ID is MS0978 – this can be used to donate via the PMC website.
Through the Peregrine Pedalers’ fundraising and advocacy work for the PMC, the Robinson family has formed a deep connection with Dr. Pasi Janne and his incredible team at the Dana Farber Thoracic Oncology Department, who took Eleanor in as a patient. All the funds raised by the Peregrine Pedalers will go directly to Dr. Janne’s Non-Small Cell Cancer Research Lab (http://jannelab.org)
Over the past five years, the support from so many folks has enabled the Pedalers to raise over $340,000 for Dr. Janne’s lab, including $86,000 last year alone!
This year I’ve committed to raise $4,000 myself. Please consider helping me reach my 2025 goal and visit my fundraising page at https://profile.pmc.org/MS0978. Thank you in advance for your support, generosity, and love.
Sincerely,
Smitty
