Dear Friends, Family, and Colleagues,
I am thrilled to be participating in the Pan-Mass Challenge 2-day bike ride from Wellesley to Provincetown (162 miles)! The PMC is a fundraising bike-a-thon that has raised over $1 Billion dollars in direct support of cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber. As a medical oncologist, I have witnessed the impact that research has on improving the lives of patients afflicted with cancer. Over the past several years, we have made tremendous advances in the treatment of patients with kidney, bladder, prostate, and testicular cancers. However, we still have so much more work to do towards discovering cures for all patients.
The need to support cancer research is now more urgent than ever. Recently, federal funding for kidney, prostate and bladder cancers has been decreased or eliminated entirely through cuts to the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP) for FY25. These funding cuts threaten cancer research and limit our ability to make critical breakthroughs.
I have committed to PMC because I believe in the mission of DFCI to provide compassionate care for patients today while striving towards a future without cancer. I’ve made a commitment to fundraising and I invite you to join our movement by donating to support life-saving cancer research.
Thank you for your consideration and wish me luck!
