February 11, 2022 was the day I was diagnosed with stage II colon cancer. Just like anyone else, this was news I was not expecting to hear ever let alone at 32 years old. I vaguely remember the following days because 12 hours later was hospitalized for surgery to remove the tumor that was obstructing my bowels. What I do remember is, my support system and medical team having my best interest and wanting me to have the best possible outcome, which meant my cancer was going to be treated at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. I am beyond grateful to have such an instrumental medical care that is offered at DFCI – and I told myself if I ever find a way to show my appreciation, I wouldn’t think twice, which is why I’m riding! This year, I’ll be riding with my best friend, Brenna Fitzgibbon, we are embarking on this journey together as a team - “Fitzy’s Riders” to honor her father, Kevin, who unfortunately succumbed to the disease in June of 2021.

With riding, comes a fundraising goal, and in my heart there is no better cause to help find a cure to cancer. I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer. Every year 100% of rider-raised revenue went directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s tireless commitment to finding a cure. Money raised will allow research and progress to help understand a disease that is a very case by case.
