2020 was a washout for everyone, but I'm back at it to fundraise for the 2021 PMC. Hannah is almost 2 years off treatment and the Jimmy Fund Clinic at Dana Farber continues to do amazing work (regardless of COVID)!
For those of you just joining my page, our daughter Hannah was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of 2.5 in September of 2017. Hannah completed over 2 years of treatment in November of 2019.
Since the start of Hannah's treatment, she has endured sedations, MRIs, lumbar punctures, blood transfusions, hospital admissions, and multiple midnight ER visits for fevers. She lost her hair.....but she has never lost her spirit. She is our superhero.
Having been unfortunate enough to experience the Jimmy Fund Clinic at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute first hand, we know how lucky we are to be at the #1 US Children's Hospital and Pediatric Cancer Institute. No matter where in the world you are, be assured that Dana Farber is leading the way for cancer research and global treatment.
Despite all of this we choose to be positive. With 100% honesty, I can say we feel lucky.
- Lucky to have access to the world’s best hospitals, and doctors.
- Lucky because Hannah’s diagnosis has the highest survival rate of any childhood cancer at nearly 90.... which isn’t high enough, but we will take it.
- Lucky because we have met families who’s kids aren’t as lucky as Hannah, who won’t survive. Those families wish their kid had Hannah’s diagnosis. And for that we really count our lucky stars.
She is what we see as the best case of a terrible situation. That is what got us through the days.
Like many others, we never thought it would be our family. Until one day it was. We as a family have become stronger than ever. Hannah has thought us how to fight. Not once has she shown weakness, nor has she ceased to amaze us throughout the most difficult times. To watch your child take on cancer with a true warrior princess mentality is awe inspiring.
We have all been impacted by cancer with our family, friends and loved ones. Please consider donating to support Dana Farber's cancer research efforts. We greatly appreciate any donation.
100% of rider-raised revenue goes directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure.
Thank You,
Mark, Michelle, Hannah & Blaire
