Our family has been through so much with cancer over the past two years. I am incredibly lucky to be cancer-free after receiving treatment at Dana Farber for stage 4 endometrial cancer. We lost my brother, Greg, to pancreatic cancer on February 24th, 2024 at age 51, about 11 months after he was diagnosed. Pancreatic cancer is just brutal and unyielding. It pains me deeply to know how he suffered and that his cancer wasn't yet curable.
And yet, I do have hope that breakthroughs for pancreatic and other tough cancers are in our near future. This is because I know firsthand how brilliant, tireless, and committed the incredible doctors at Dana Farber are. They are on the frontlines of putting cutting-edge science and data to work to find innovative treatments and to improve patient outcomes. They care deeply about their patients and their families and about finding cures.
I'm riding the Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) two-day 162 mile bike ride from Wellesley to Provincetown, MA this August to support these doctors and cancer patients and in loving memory of Greg. 100% of the money raised for the PMC goes directly to support Dana Farber's work to finding a cure.
Greg was not one to wait for others to fix things or solve problems. As my sister-in-law, nephews and niece emphasized in his obituary, Greg believed in the power of duct tape, WD-40, and a little elbow grease to solve life's puzzles. I'll be channeling his hard work ethic and belief that we all have a role to play in solving challenges when I train for and ride the PMC this summer. I ask that you join me in lending your generous support to finding a cure.
With tremendous gratitude and love,
Megan
