Dear Friends and Supporters,
I’m reaching out as I prepare to ride once again in the 2025 Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC)—http://profile.pmc.org/MRO431-an extraordinary event that brings thousands of cyclists together to raise critical funds for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
As many of you know, I ride in honor of my late wife, Eleanor Perkins Robinson (1957–2022)—a remarkable woman who lived with non-small cell lung cancer, EGFR mutation, for nearly six years. She was cared for by Dana-Farber’s world-class team, especially Dr. Pasi Janne, who helped give us time and hope through groundbreaking treatments.
Though Eleanor died in January 2022, her spirit continues to inspire our team, the Peregrine Pedalers, as we ride in her memory—and in support of all those still fighting cancer today. Our goal is not just to remember, but to fuel the research and treatments that are saving lives right now.
This year, on August 2, 2025, I will ride 84 miles on Day 1 of the PMC. Every rider is asked to raise at least $4,000, and every single dollar I raise goes directly to Dana-Farber, with our team’s funds earmarked specifically for EGFR lung cancer mutation research.
Eleanor was a lifelong athlete, educator, communicator, and scientist. Even in the face of cancer, she found joy daily—tracking birds, hiking the Adirondacks, playing paddle tennis, singing in the church choir, and walking the dogs she loved. Her courage, optimism, and drive left an indelible mark on all who knew her. And thanks to your past support—through your words, prayers, and generous donations—she knew she was not alone in her fight.
Now I ask again: Will you join me on this journey to “give cancer the bird”? Your gift will help Dana-Farber continue its life-saving work, so that more families may have the time and hope Eleanor and I were given.
Please consider donating today through my PMC fundraising page. http://profile.pmc.org/MRO431
Every gift—no matter the amount—helps us move closer to a world without cancer.
