Last summer, I rode the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) to raise money for cancer research and treatment in memory of my father, a devoted family man and brilliant hematologist/oncologist who tirelessly dedicated his life to research, teaching and helping patients with cancer.
It has been 27 years since his passing, but not a day goes by that I do not think of him and wish he could be here with my family. With his passing, I lost a father that I idolized and my five children lost a future role model that set a high bar for a life well lived -- to always put family first, to always give 100% in everything you do, to live honestly, and to savor every moment we have on this earth.
I know firsthand from my father how important research funding is to help find a cure or extend lives for those who have cancer, which is why I am riding again this year on August 3 and fundraising through the PMC.
Thanks to your generosity the PMC raised $75 million last year to provide critical funds for cancer research and treatment. But we need to do more. Cancer continues to impact the lives of people, young and old, all around us. We all know someone who has been impacted by cancer. Since my PMC ride last year, I’ve had numerous friends and family members receive a cancer diagnosis. Their strength, courage and determination inspire me to do more to help combat this disease.
I’m riding the PMC in honor of my father and in support of friends and family who are battling cancer. I hope you will support my efforts again this year.
The PMC is a Massachusetts-based cycling event that raises funds for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world leader in pediatric cancer treatment and research. 100% of every rider-raised dollar goes to supporting lifesaving cancer research and treatment.
