This is the second year I am fortunate enough to to ride with Team Kevin Fitz for the 2019 Pan Mass Challenge. After completing the challenge in 2018 I was overwhelmed with the amount of support from my family, friends, and complete strangers. Cancer is something that has an unfortunate tie into everyones life and the PMC is leading the charge in funding Cancer Research to end this horrible disease.
I have seen the heartbreaking effects of cancer through my papa, Cosmo Gus Pescatore who battled with Myeloma Cancer and passed in 1996. Most recently, our life-long family friend Emily Kane fought Thymic Cancer for 12 years and passed in March 2017.
However, my uncle Rob Pescatore and close family-friend Debbie Barry both fought an extensive, but winning battle against Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma with not only the support of family but with the advance treatment provided by Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
Cancer is affecting our family and friends in various ways and we cannot just rely on the world-class care offered in Boston, MA. We need to continue to invest in the research backing these amazing advancements in detection, treatment, and termination of cancer.
On August 4th I ride for Team Kevin Fitz because we are all in this together and together we can make a change.
