It's that time of year again; on August 3 & 4, I will be riding the Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) for the fourth time.
As you may know, the PMC is a two day bike ride which raises money for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. More than 6,000 cyclists will participate in the two day event, over a variety of routes culminating with the finish in Provincetown in Cape Cod; I will be riding 186 miles (299 km) over the two days.
For the second year, I will be riding with Team FLAMES. The FLAMES were founded in 2001 by a Dana Farber cancer patient (teammate, Cindy Hale) who was fighting for her life along with her inspiring chemo and oncology nurses respectively from Dana Farber (Kathleen McDermott, teammate and Joanie Kelly, CaptN Emeritus). The name FLAMES is an acronym – (Fast Legs And Minds Ending Suffering). The team is actively supported by Dana Faber doctors, nurses and researchers.
I ride in honor and memory of the people I have known who have suffered from, and succumbed to, cancer. These include, but are not limited to: my mother, Joan O'Meara, Joe Massaro, Brian Slattery, Tommy Keenan, Maura Quinn, Brandon Leveille & Rick Kavanagh.
100% of every rider-raised dollar goes to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Any and all donations, no matter how large or small, are greatly appreciated!
Thank You!
Michael
