Dear friends and family,
On August 3-4, I will be riding in my second Pan Mass Challenge (PMC). Along with my teammates, I will ride 185 miles across Massachusetts to raise much needed support for cancer research.
I have a personal goal to raise $15,000 this year, and I hope to raise well beyond that amount. A very generous anonymous donor has agreed to match every dollar that you donate, so any amount you give will go twice as far.
As background, the PMC raises more money for charity than any other single athletic event in the country with 100% of contributions fund research and care at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Since 1980, the Pan-Mass Challenge has raised a total in excess of $1 billion for cancer research with a 2024 total goal of $75 million across all riders.
I am riding on behalf of several inspirational women.
First, for my mother Brooke Munfa (pictured above), who I am very lucky to still have in my life after her initial cancer diagnosis in 2002 and several bouts with cancer over the years. I will also be riding to honor the memory of Kirby Grochal, the loving wife of my friend Andrew Grochal and mother to Derek and Sydney. I choose to remember Kirby not as a cancer patient, but rather as a strong, tenacious, inspiring woman who touched many lives.
Last, I will be riding in memory of Eileen Drummond Cadigan, the mother of my oldest childhood friend.
I've included photos of all three of these amazing women in the gallery on my donation page as well as a few of my personal highlights with Andrew, Derek, and Sydney over the last year.
Any amount you would donate is greatly appreciated!
Marc
