This year I will be riding my 6th Pan Mass Challenge! I am switching it up a little, and I will be participating in the PMC's gravel ride at the end of September. Far from the 189 miles from Sturbridge to Provincetown I have been biking, this ride will take me through this hills of the Berkshires alongside other PMC riders motivated by the fight against cancer. This September, I have a goal to round out my life long fundraising efforts and to surpass 30k in PMC contributions. To get there, I will need to raise $2,854 for my ride this year. Thank you to all of those that have been on this journey with me from the beginning who have helped make this goal possible. I am so excited to share this experience, and am forever focused on Dana Farber's mission to cure cancer.
This year I am riding in honor of my Aunt Carol. Her fight, bravery, and motivation carried me on my most successful ride last year. I am so proud of her fight- one she carried with optimism, love, and grace. My aunt passed on New Years Eve of this year. The last PMC text we exchanged after a few years of her being my #1 reason was a sweet text reply the night before I rode 192 miles I feel your spirit and determination to help science save lives. It takes a team. Thank you my sweet Monica! She was love in its greatest form, and this world is feeling a lot more empty without her. I am proud to continue to ride in her memory from here on out.
I am so grateful for the PMC these last 6 years knowing I am making an impact in the lives of so many who deserve a fighting chance when they hear the word cancer. Together, we can honor those fighting cancer, those who have survived cancer, and those who have lost their battle to cancer. Dana Farber has contributed to finding cures that give families another chance- and they will continue to until we live in a cancer free world.
Thank you for continuing on this journey with me. Every dollar donated goes directly to Dana Farber Cancer research. We truly are closer by the mile.
With immense gratitude,
Monica Manning
