Dear Friends:
It was my plan, for the first time, to ride in the Pan Mass Challenge on Morgan Stanley's Team Ocho Cinco. I was invited to join Team Ocho Cinco by my son-in-law, Shaun Fallon, who works for Morgan Stanley. The PMC is celebrating its 41st ride in 2020. Jon “Ocho Cinco” Schoen, who lost his life to cancer much too soon, was a former member of the Morgan Stanley Family and a long time supporter of the PMC, both riding and donating. He loved participating even during his most difficult times of treatment. I had the privilege of meeting and getting to know Jon, and seeing first hand the wonderful person he was.
This year, due to the COVID 19 virus, the PMC ride routes are closed for safety purposes. So I plan to safely ride 100 miles the first week of August 2020, in Berkshire County, MA. The PMC is the largest single fundraiser for the Jimmy Fund/Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and the need for funding continues. One hundred percent of every rider-raised dollar goes directly to the Jimmy Fund.
In addition to honoring Jon, I am riding in honor of a number of cancer survivors, including my cousin, and a very dear and lifelong friend, who survived Hodgkins Lymphoma this past year as well as COVID 19!
My goal is to raise $5,000.00 which will go directly to helping doctors and researchers at Dana Farber obtain the resources necessary to discover cures for all cancers. I recognize this has been a very challenging year given the COVID virus, and if you can consider a modest donation to this vital cause it would be most appreciated. If you would like to donate, please click on one of the options to the left. A donation in any amount would be most appreciated.
If you prefer to make a donation by check, please make the check out to PMC/Jimmy Fund and return the check to me at 3537 Narragansett Avenue, Annapolis, 21403. PMC donations are tax deductible and 100% will go to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The PMC's tax ID / EIN is 04-2746912.
With my deepest gratitude:
Mike Lord
