Why I Ride ...

Dear Supporters,

This year will be my 22nd year participating in the PMC. I will be riding with my perennial PMC friends and team: Team Breakfast Riders. Riding with them is never a chore and always one of my most meaningful summer experiences.

I will be riding a 2-day 185-mile route from Wellesley to P-Town, I'm looking forward to every minute of it.

Every donation that you make will benefit the breakthrough research achieved and treatments received at Dana Farber.

Please consider even a small donation so that we can keep making progress against this disease that takes so many loved ones from us.

(My many inspirations for riding follow...)

In 2003 my 5-year old nephew passed way from leukemia. In 2009 my dad lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. 4 years ago my aunt passed away from cancer. A good friend from college lost his battle with lung cancer- a non-smoker, doctor, and health advocate.

The Pan Massachusetts Challenge is the most successful fundraiser in the country, and one of the most successful charitable events in the world. The PMC raises money for the Jimmy Fund, which directly benefits the Dana Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI).

Last year the PMC raised $75 million to support research and treatment at DFCI. This year all monies raised - 100% of every dollar you donate, will go to benefit Dana Farber again.

Statistics suggest we all will be directly affected by cancer in our lifetime. So why not do something for yourself, for those you love, and for those who battle the disease today?

In my years of riding in the event, I've met many cancer survivors who attributed their survival and remission to the research at and treatment received from Dana Farber.

For me, that's all the inspiration I need.
