Last year I volunteered for this event which has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’m riding this year in honor of my Papa, who passed away two years ago after a short but courageous battle with leukemia. I am also riding in honor of my uncle Adam Jacoby who is winning his fight against cancer and in memory of my childhood friend, Connor, who lost his life way too early to this viscious disease.

I am thrilled to join Team Perry, which was created by my mom after her first husband died of small bowel cancer in 1999. This year will be the 25th year for the team with more than 11 Million Dollars raised in that time. Being part of this effort feels deeply personal and meaningful.

When I signed up back in January, I was excited and ready to ride - I even got a new road bike as an early 21st birthday gift — but life threw me a curveball and I landed badly on a ski jump at Copper Mountain. I ruptured my ACL! I had reconstruction surgery in late April, and I’m just 10 weeks into recovery. With August 2nd just a few weeks away...I am training as much as I can while being an overnight camp counselor!

For me, and for all of us riding, this is about raising money for cancer research — to honor the people we’ve lost and to help others still fighting.
