I will be riding again this August in an incredible event called the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge (PMC). For those unfamiliar with this event, it is a 192-mile bike (the kind you pedal) ride taking place over two days, leaving Sturbridge Mass and ending at the tip of Cape Cod in Provincetown. I will be riding with a group of riders, 25 in total, from Team ConeHead (like the traffic cone). This is not a individual challenge or personal goal for me but is something much larger. My motivation is to raise money to cure cancer, plan and simple. The team I am riding with has raised over $3.0 million in the past 17 years, and over the past two years, with your help, I personally raised over $19,000.00. What is even more impressive is that the event itself will surpass the $1 Billion mark this year! What sets this ride apart from other similar events, other than being the largest of its kind in the country, is that 100% of the funds, raised by its riders, goes directly to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
This cause is also very personal for me as I have lost two very important people in my life to this horrible disease. Losing both my Mother and Mother-in-law in the same year, had a huge impact on me and my family. They both missed watching my boys grow up, missed hundreds of games, birthday parties, graduations, and even marriages. They had so much to live for but were denied the chance to experience these life events because of this disease. As nothing will bring these incredible women back, my goal is to hopefully give someone else the chance to beat this disease so they won't miss out on some of life’s greatest pleasures.
This is the reason I will be riding agin this year and will hopefully be healthy enough to ride for many years to come. Please donate and join our team to help wipe out this horrendous disease.
