Why do I ride? Cancer sucks.
We all have a story about how it has impacted someone in our life. My first brush with this was when my mother was diagnosed early in my high school years with uterine cancer. She was young, only a few years older than I am now. No longer was cancer something far removed from my life of calculus and PlayStation, but something close and sinister. Thanks to medical treatment, she has been cancer free for over 20 years.
In my twenties, my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer. This man who worked multiple jobs to put me through school, to landscape our entire yard with his own hands, the strongest guy I knew was put in a terrifying predicament. It was a quick diagnosis and treatment, but a long road to recovery. He remains cancer free today.
So I ride because cancer sucks. And the PMC raises an incredible sum of money for Dana Farber. Every dollar raised goes directly to the efforts to research. I am grateful for the opportunity to support these efforts by riding the PMC with my team at Horizon Beverage.
Every little bit helps, so please consider donating today. Thanks for reading.
