As I do every year, I am riding in memory of my mother, Sandy, who I lost to cancer when I was 8-years old. Again this year I am also riding for a very special Pedal Partner, 3-year old Max, who has been battling a rare form of leukemia. A year later, Max continues to go through cycles of chemo, but the wonderful news is that he is now in remission and the leukemia cells are undetectable. He's a growing, happy boy!
As Max’ Dad states, “It is very comforting and powerful to know that there are people who, over the course of time, have contributed to the cancer cause. The survival odds that Max has today are completely different from what they were only a generation ago, and for that I am very grateful. We're not out of the woods, but we are out of crisis mode. Thank you for the work you're doing to help fund the cutting edge research that moves the needle to improve survival rates.”
This is proof that we are truly helping to save lives. We are supporting those who are making discoveries to develop treatments that are now saving lives every day. I can’t help to think that if my mother were fighting her cancer battle today, there is a very good chance that she would still be here with us.
This is why I ride – I know that my contributions, and yours, will help families win the battle against cancer.
My personal goal is to raise $5,000 and so I am asking you to be as generous as you possibly can. Let's beat this together!
With warmest thanks,
Mark
