Why I Ride - For those who are fighting the good fight with cancer and the memory of those who have left us way to soon.
The last few years cancer has hit too close to home. My sister passed in 2023 and then a few months later in 2024 my youngest daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer - triple negative BRCA1 a very aggressive form of breast cancer.
Experiencing the work first hand that the caregivers (doctors, nurses, reserachers, and volunteers) at Dana Farber do has made an even bigger impact on me with their passionate work and attention to patients.
I know that so many of my family and friends have been impacted first hand and it hurts. I ride so that family, friends, and people I have not met will at sometime in the future do not hear a doctor say - You Have Cancer.
I am just trying to help in any way that I can. I have been riding since 2009 to raise funds for Dana Farber and cancer research to find cures. My wife and I are both riding and this will be Betsy's first PMC ride. I am hoping that my involvement and fundraising can bring us closer to eradicating cancer. I ride to be an anonymous advocate in peoples lives in the effort to raise funds for cancer research.
I am overwhelmed year after year by the generosity of family and friends in the support of my efforts. I hold a lot of memories of people who are no longer here with us.
Thank you for reading and if you do have the ability to donate to my ride I would be extremely grateful. My goal this year is to raise $10,000.
I promise you that I will do my part by physically training to prepare for this painstaking ride, but I rely on you for a contribution of any amount. All donations are greatly appreciated not only by me, but by everyone whose life has been affected by cancer in some way.
