Greetings!
Thank you for supporting me in my commitment to end Ovarian Cancer. I have been a patient at Dana Farber since March 2016 when I was first diagnosed with Stage IV Ovarian Cancer.
The diagnosis was scary and life affirming at the same time. It helped me realize that, “The time is now,” if there were anything I wanted to accomplish in my life.
As my journey with ovarian cancer progressed, I determined my course of treatment by consulting with professionals at Dana Farber as well as exploring holistic and naturopathic alternatives. It became clear that the answer, for me, was an integrative approach. I would focus on cutting edge healing modalities offered to me by my oncologist at Dana Farber and use holistic and naturopathic alternatives as an assist to healing.
As I gained trust in myself to make my treatment choices, I felt much more empowered to take on other things in my life.
One of my dreams was to live on the water. I am thrilled to report that now, every morning, I look out my window and enjoy the view from my waterfront apartment on Kings Cove in Weymouth, MA.
Another dream I have is to support other women who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer to come to peace with it , to look at it as a possible beginning rather than an end, and to empower them to look at the dreams they might have and fulfill them. It is my intention to create a community for women navigating different stages of ovarian cancer where we can support each other to navigate our diagnoses and live our dreams.
It has now been 6 years after the cancer diagnosis and I am proud to say, I am not merely surviving but thriving.
The choices I have made for myself are working. It is because of Dana Farber that I can make my dreams a reality and that I am in a position to help other women with Ovarian Cancer realize their dreams.
Without the important treatments I receive at Dana Farber, I would not be here today.
I am deeply grateful and honored to be part of Team Ovarian Cancer. Check out our video that was produced and shown on Channel 4 News. The funds we are raising will be designated to Ursula Matulonis, M.D., who is Chief of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the Dana Farber whose department is at work on cutting edge treatments for Ovarian Cancer. I will share more of the specifics as they unfold.
Please join me and our team as we take on this heartfelt mission to make a difference in the cure for Ovarian Cancer.
