This summer I will ride in my fifth consecutive Pan Mass Challenge, the 186-mile bike ride held the first weekend in August each year that raises money for research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Last year PMC raised over $72 million for Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund. I have committed to ride again this year because each year friends and family continue to be been touched by cancer, and simply because it is a small way to make a contribution to an extremely important cause. (And it’s fun!)
Last year the team on which I ride, the Domestiques, was 20-strong and raised over $189,000 for Dana-Farber. Our team’s five-year total is $763,900. This year our team will ride the traditional PMC route, from Sturbridge and Wellesley MA to Provincetown MA, on August 3 - 4. Personally, the ride is demanding—but it is because it is so demanding that the experience, including the funds raised, seem all the more worthwhile. And, like the past four years, I will be riding with my son, Scott, which makes the event all the more special.
If you are able and willing to support my ride, it will make a difference for Dana-Farber and all those people who benefit from Dana-Farber’s research and treatment. NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL, and every single dollar we raise–100% of the donations–will go to Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund.
Thank you!

Domestique: In road cycling, a domestique is a rider who works for the benefit of their team, rather than trying to win the race. Where the domestique finishes a race is less important than the help they give to team members.
