This is my SECOND year joining the PMC and I'm so excited to kick off the ground at 5am on August 4th, 2024 for our 80 mile bike ride across Cape Cod, spanning all the way from the Bourne Bridge to Provincetown.
Why do I ride?
First and foremost, I ride for everyone who can no longer ride... My grandmother, who was taken too soon by Pancreatic Cancer. Young women, like Meghan and Monica, who lost their battles with cancer at far too young of an age. Little girls, like Morgan, who have shown us how strong they are in fighting and winning the battle against cancer! Melissa, who many of us know and love - and who is bravely fighting right now! ....I'm riding for everyone who will battle cancer in their lives, in one way or another, in the future.... And, most recently, my close high school friend, who has recently been diagnosed and is fighting a serious battle against breast cancer.
...Why else do I ride?
I ride to fight the cancer cells in my own body. It's important to me to exercise and be healthy to keep the cancer cells in my own body at bay. I ride to stay healthy so that I can keep up with my crazy boys forever. I ride to encourage myself to keep up with their physical fitness level - as they get older - I still want to be faster and stronger than them! (Tho - let's be honest, I don't have many years left of that!)
I'm riding to show my boys that I CAN ride 80 miles on a bike because I decided I would, and I will. This is to show them that they can do ANYTHING that they put their minds to.
To ride 80 miles is to continue to work towards a level of fitness that can help keep me healthy. These are many of the reasons that I ride.
I am asking for your support as I bike across Cape Cod, MA with thousands of other riders and volunteers to help raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
The PMC is an opportunity to come together as a community to support each other in the fight against cancer. Through friendship, cutting-edge research, and unparalleled medical care, we will make a difference and we will find a cure.
This year I am committing to raising $6000. The 2024 goal for the PMC is $75 million!
Thank you so much for reading this far.... and thank you in advance for any support that you can put towards my small part of this hugely important cause!
Now, LET'S RIDE!
With much gratitude,
Meghan
