Hello Friends, Family, and Colleagues!
I’m writing to share that I will be riding this year in the Pan Mass Challenge. Though the event is virtual this year, I am excited to be joining Team LUNGSTRONG to complete the 2-day 160 mile ride on August 7-8. As a long-time member of the International Union Against TB and Lung Disease (IUATLD), I have seen the progress that research has brought to diagnosis and treatment. But, the work is not over yet!
In the midst of this pandemic and social distancing, it’s important to remember that, as a community, we can make a difference. The lung cancer community is at a much higher risk with COVID-19 – so we need to do all we can to support this community. The mission of Team LUNGSTRONG is to raise funds for innovative research so that lung cancer is a treatable disease and no longer fatal. 100% of the money that Team LUNGSTRONG raises goes towards much needed Lung Cancer Research under the direction of Dr. Pasi Janne, Director of the Lowe Center of Thoracic Research at DFCI. Dana Farber has been leading the way in lung cancer research and we know that the money that Team LUNGSTRONG raises is helping them find a cure. In the last 10 years, Team LUNGSTRONG has raised close to $3.5 Million!!
If you’re interested and have the ability, I kindly ask that you follow this link to make a donation. All donations, regardless of size, are welcome and needed. Donations are tax deductible and 100% will go to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. If your employer has a matching gift program, ask your Human Resource department for a form and follow the process for matches. To learn more about the PMC, visit www.pmc.org.
Stay safe and see you out on the road!
Thank you,
Marty
