Year number 6! I am riding the 2024 Pan-Mass Challenge in memory of my mother-in-law, Sharon Sullivan, and in honor of my cousin, Ross Theaumont.
Sharon lost her battle to breast cancer in January of 2020. She was an incredible and inspiring woman, mother, and friend - a person who showed relentless courage and perservance in her prolonged fight against cancer. We miss her thoughtfulness, kindness and loving presence every single day.
Ross was diagnosed in 2021 with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Diffusive B Cell and courageously battled the disease throughout the subsequent year. Ross is a positive force of optimism that brings happiness and laughter to those around him every day. He is a loving husband to his wife Amy and proud dad to their three beautiful children, Thomas, James, and Maggie (all three of whom rode in the PMC Kids ride in June 2022!). Ross' recent scans show that he has overcome the disease.
As in years past, I will be riding the 192 miles from Sturbridge to Provincetown Monument. This journey offers a way for me to contribute to the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and their tireless effort of finding a cure for cancer. The PMC raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country - targeting a goal of $75 million in 2024 with potential to eclipse $1 billion in cumulative funding since its founding in 1980! With survival rates going up every year, progress in curing cancer is increasing in tandem, and Dana-Farber is at the forefront of that progress.
Any and every donation helps and is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support! #CloserByTheMile
