On August 3rd, I will be riding 85 miles in my 26th PMC Ride. This year my ride is dedicated to my wife Julie’s cousin, Emily Somers, who recently died from a rare form of lung cancer. An amazing and loving human being, Emily was 38, a young, health-conscious, non-smoker whose wedding we celebrated less than five years ago. In Emily’s honor, I will be riding for Dave Barbie's SPORE Fund – which aims to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of lung cancer.
I will continue to ride with Heidi’s Heroes to raise additional money for neuroendocrine cancer research, which supports personalized treatment options for patients with pancreatic and biliary disease. This cause is particularly close to my heart, as it has been a lifeline for my dear friend Heidi Fischer.
As many of you know, this cause also holds great significance for me, as I have ridden for the past 26 years in memory of my father, Gerson Gus Blaustein, and my close friend, Mark Brener. Their struggles with cancer have fueled my dedication to this cause, and I am committed to making a difference in their honor.
Your contribution, regardless of the amount, will be deeply appreciated. Rest assured that your donation is tax-deductible, and the PMC ensures that 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar goes directly towards the cause.
