This year, the cause hits closer to home than ever -- my sister-in-law and cousin were each diagnosed with breast cancer over the holidays, within weeks of each other. These are amazing young women. They're moms, spouses, daughters, sisters, aunts, counsins, nieces, friends and colleagues. They're busy balancing home and work. They love music and Cape Cod. And they both love to have a good time. In other words, they're just like you and me.
Their diagnosis is a reminder that cancer can touch any one of us at any point in time. The good news is, thanks to the scientists, researchers and specialists at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, we're so close to a cure. In the meantime, they're discovering new treatments and therapies that give patients and their families a powerful aresenal of weapons to help fight and win the battle.
