Hi- thanks for taking the time to visit!
We've all watched Dave participate in the PMC for decades now... so why did I decide to join him this year?
There's always been a sense of wonder and curiousity about the PMC- are they the mafia, or a cult? (their words, not mine) What brings riders back year after year.
It's not the training, that's for sure. Four-hour bike rides on cold, rainy Saturday mornings are not my thing, never will be. And it's not the fundraising, because I don't like talking about myself and I hate the idea of asking anyone for money.
I'm doing this for Mom, something I should have done 10 years ago. She didn't deserve to have cancer drugs destroy her lungs after only one round of chemo. Her story is such a lousy, one-in-a-million cautionary tale that still feels so unfair all these years later.
So I cannot wait to experience the Day of the Ride (yes, capital letters) because something magical must happen that day to bring everyone back. And if even $1 helps to prevent what happened to my Mom from ever happening to anyone else, then I'll consider joining the mafia. (But never a cult, that's just weird)
