I ride so my son can grow up in a world without cancer.
This August will mark my 4th year participating in the Pan-Mass Challenge. My stepmother inspired me, Patrice McCloskey (a long-time PMC rider/supporter), to take my first ride in 2017. It was physically and mentally challenging and one of the best experiences of my life.
Like most of us, I know too many who have been affected by this horrible disease. In February 2012, I lost my grandmother (Patrice’s mother) Lorraine Tegan after a long, brave battle with breast cancer. In November of 2012, I lost my cousin MaryBeth (Fabian) Fratus also to breast cancer. Over the years, I have watched so many others bravely fight for a better tomorrow.
I continue to support the PMC because 100% of rider-raised revenue will go directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. To date, the PMC has contributed $767 Million to one of the world’s leading cancer research centers and the nation’s #2 pediatric cancer program (as rated by U.S. News & World Report in June 2020). This year the collective goal is to raise $52 Million.
This year, due to my new son, Gianluca, I will participate in the ride virtually. I will continue to ride in memory of Lorraine Tegan and MaryBeth (Fabian) Fratus and in honor of so many others who continue to fight for a better tomorrow. I’m hopeful that reaching my goal of $6,000 will get us on step further to living in a world without cancer.
Thank you for your continued support,
Lisa
