This August I will be riding 163 miles, from Wellesley to Provincetown, as part of the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC). The PMC is an annual bike-a-thon that raises money for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber. I'm a proud supporter of the PMC because it is leading a charge to beat cancer - a disease that has touched too many in my life. 100% of rider-raised revenue goes directly to support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's tireless commitment to finding a cure. Last year, that was $47 million. Each year, the PMC strives to raise more than the last.
I ride with Team Lizard: one of the top fundraising teams for the PMC. The funds raised by Team Lizard go to support great doctors, nurses, and other caregivers who provide care and healing to cancer patients through the use of integrative medicine.
This is my sixth PMC. I ride in honor of my grandfather, uncle, and father-in-law, and to celebrate the health of my friends who have battled cancer and have survived.
I ride because I can, and I will ride until we find a cure. This year I learned just how important the PMC funding is to the Dana-Farber in furthering its research to crush cancer. Without PMC funds, many of their doctors' innovative studies would never get off the ground. By riding, I am doing my small part to eradicate this horrible disease. I ask that you give what you can to do the same.
