Why I Ride ...
I was catapulted back into the saddle this year to ride the PMC by my friend George. George, a Pan-Mass Challenge alumni was recently diagnosed with cancer and is now a patient at Dana-Farber. George was instrumental in helping me decide to ride my first Pan-Mass Challenge in 2011.
I did not know it at the time, but he would once again be a driving force.
Last fall, my friend Joan (a wife, a mother - just like me) was taken from us by cancer.
My son Dillon was taken from us by pediatric cancer.
Cancer does not descriminate.
After seeing what Dillon had to live through, I am inspired to keep going and push on, never giving up fighting for myself, for my family and for others. He has given this gift to me and I will not waste it. This is why I ride. I ride for you, your family, your friends, for Dillon and for myself.
Everyone is touched by cancer, everyone knows someone who is experiencing the unimaginable.
I hope you will take this ride with me and Dillon. Please consider donating and play a role in the fight against cancer by supporting my efforts. 100% of every dollar PMC cyclists raise goes directly to The Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Every mile ridden, every dollar I raise, will make a difference, getting us one step closer to a cure for cancer.
