Dear family and friends,
On August 2nd & 3rd, I'm excited to join the Pedals 4 Pediatrics team for its 23rd year to raise funds for the pediatric program at Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorder Center. P4P's mission is to ease the burden of childhood cancer for kids, teens and young adults undergoing cancer treatment and their families. P4P has raised $7.23 million for DF/BCH, funding groundbreaking pediatric cancer research, innovative patient and family programs, and reducing the tremendous financial burden that comes with a childhood cancer diagnosis.
Year after year, P4P funding supports programs to help families cope with the cancer journey, such as the Sibling Program, Integrative Therapies, and the Bereavement Program. Last year, your donations funded a nurse-led infection reduction initiaitve, a unit-based simulation program to train oncology nurses and NPs in clinical emergency response, and several Child Life Specialist programs. P4P is the largest donor to the Patient Resource Fund, which helps families cover out of pocket expenses such as food, transportation and housing while the child receives treatment in Boston. Lastly, P4P has supported 65 physician and nurse scientists with pediatric research grants, many of which led to publications and breakthroughs in pediatric cancer research.
PMC raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country - $1 billion since 1980 and $75 million in 2024 alone! This success is the result of a lot of people riding for, and caring about, a cure. And because every penny matters, 100 percent of your donation goes to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
