There's a Lot Riding on This…again!
Dear friends,
As I've done since 2015, I am committing again to raising money for cancer research by riding in the 2024 Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC). On the first weekend in August, I will join nearly 7,000 cyclists in the PMC ride, an annual cycling event that raises money for research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) in Boston.
Many of you know that this fundraising is personal and close to home for me. Over the past few years, my brother Matt and father-in-law Larry both lost their battles with cancer. It's obvious to me that further research on lung cancer is needed and it can't come soon enough. By riding in the PMC and raising funds specifically for lung cancer research, I hope to help find a cure for this horrible disease that impacts so many every year. During Matt's 7 year battle, we benefitted greatly from new research, clinical trials and treatments. Some of this research is funded by the PMC!
Rather than raise general funds for Dana-Farber, I will be restricting my fundraising efforts to help fund further research on the specific type of cancer my brother had and the targeted therapies being developed to fight this type of cancer. More specifically, the funds we raise will go to Dr. Janne, Director of Applied Cancer Science at Dana-Farber, and the EGFR research under his leadership. Dr. Janne's bio is here: People | Janne Lab
I hope I can count on your support (again] to keep fighting this fight. With your help, Team Rockstar has raised over $60,000 since 2015! Together, we will get closer by the mile to a world without cancer. This is what a bike is meant to do.
The PMC raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country, Nearly ONE BILLION DOLLARS since 1980 and, thanks to your help, over $72 million last year alone! This success is the result of a lot of people riding for and caring about a cure. And because every penny matters, 100 percent of your donation goes to DFCI.
As if spending all of this time on an uncomfortable bike seat isn't enough of a challenge, I've made a personal commitment to raise $7,500 for this incredible cause, I'll pedal again this year and hope to add a few new team members to Rockstar Cycling. I've included a few links below that will help you contribute to this significant goal. Every donation is incredibly appreciated.
100% of every rider-raised dollar to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund.
F*CK CANCER!
