Hi,
I hope everyone is well and looking forward to a relaxing summer.
I’m sure over the last few weeks many of you have started preparing or at least thinking about your plans for the next few months.
For these past two months, my preparation for the summer has involved hitting the road. I have been waking up (often quite early), getting on my bike and training for one of my favorite summer experiences - the Pan Mass Challenge (PMC). This year will be my 9th year and every year this 200 mile 2 day bike ride across Massachusetts always delivers a moving and uplifting experience.
As many of you know, the PMC is a fund raiser dedicated to creating awareness and raising funds for the work that is done at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, one of the leading cancer centers in the U.S. They are focused on developing cutting edge research in an effort to save lives from this dreaded desease and providing top-notch patient care of those currently fighting.
Over the last few years this ride has taken on a new meaning for me. I have seen a number of my good friends (in my age group with families) get diagnosed with this terrible disease. I have witnessed the struggle of juggling family commitments while going through cancer treatment. I have seen the impact that cancer treatment has on their energy levels.
It is for them that I ride.
At a time when research funding is shrinking nationwide, the contribution that the Pan Mass makes to DFCI has never been more critical. If you are able, I would very much appreciate it if you would contribute toward my efforts to raise money for Dana Farber’s lifesaving research and care.

I hope you have a wonderful summer,
