Hello friends! My name is Lindsay Gibbons and I'm proud to share that I'm participating in the 2025 Pan-Mass Challenge - a bike-a-thon raising money to help find a cure for cancer.
I'm riding in memory of my Aunt Karen who died at 59 years young after a battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. My aunt was an inspiration - throughout her cancer treatments she kept detailed journals, sharing bits of wisdom and encouragement. Most notably, she reminded us:
We can’t control what happens in our lives. However, we do have a choice in our response. Even in the darkest of times, I believe there are always flickers of brilliance. I choose to focus on those. I choose to shine.”
Some of my favorite memories with my Aunt Karen revolve around being active - going to yoga classes, hiking through Raleigh's beautiful nature trails, and going for walks with her German Shepherds. As I train for the Pan-Mass Challenge, I feel Karen with me and I try to channel her enduring spirit to encourage me through my rides. I hope that through this challenge, I can carry on Karen's positive legacy and be an inspiration to my infant daughter Abigail - who I hope will look up to me like I admire my Aunt Karen.
Since its founding in 1980, PMC riders like me have raised more than $1 billion for lifesaving cancer research, treatment and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, one of the country's top cancer care hospitals. My PMC is making a difference in the lives of patients at Dana-Farber and around the world. The funds I raise support the innovative work of doctors, nurses, and scientists in their search for cures for cancers and related diseases.
100 percent of every dollar I raise goes directly to Dana-Farber, meaning that your donation has a real impact! Please donate to my PMC fundraising and help me reach my fundraising goal.
