I am writing to you about the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), a bike-a-thon that has raised $972 million for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute since its inception in 1980. This year, I will be participating in my 16th PMC alongside my brother, Paul who is embarking on his 28th. On August 3rd and 4th, our “Team More Cow-Bell”, now 22 members strong will ride the 190 miles from Sturbridge, MA to Provincetown to raise funds for the fight against cancer.

I am happy to report that my two close friends mentioned in last year’s letter are doing well and are now cancer-free. Early detection along with healthy lifestyle choices are our best defense against cancer, but we know there are no guarantees. Cancer affects us all in some way.

It’s often said that when the history of Dana-Farber is written, the PMC will be chapter one. This year is especially significant for the PMC, with a fundraising goal of $ 75 Million, which will bring the lifetime fundraising total for Dana-Farber to over $ 1 Billion. This milestone is made possible through generous donors like you.

“Team More Cow-Bell” will join over 6,200 riders on 12 different routes. More than 2,500 volunteers will support us at rest stops, on the road, in medical tents, and with meals along the way.  

The fight against cancer is ongoing’ and I am once again asking for your financial support to help in this crucial battle. Remember, 100% of rider-raised funds go directly to Dana-Farber supporting their cancer research and treatment.
