I ride for my sister, Emily Woodward Macy, who blessed our lives for 51 years.
Emily was my best buddy growing up and a light-hearted and supportive sister in our adult years. But she was so much more than a beloved sister. She was a devoted and fun-loving mom, a cherished daughter, a doting aunt, a caring and loyal friend, a lover of animals including dogs, cats, bunnies, and oysters (she worked to restore marine habitat), a triple threat actress, and an adored high school drama teacher.
Thanks to Emily's positive spirit and life-extending treatments, Emily lived life to the fullest for six years following her diagnosis with HPV-related cancer. Even after her diagnosis, we all stubbornly assumed she'd always be with us to make us laugh and lift our spirits. Ultimately, cancer intervened, leaving a void in our lives where Emily is supposed to be.
I'm riding because I want a world where no one else loses a precious sister, mother, daughter, aunt, friend, or teacher to cancer. I humbly ask that you join me and thousands of others in reaching this goal by making a donation to the PMC.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
